Under Construction
I made an effort a few months ago to start a blog. I didn't do a good job keeping up with it. I will be updating this blog in the next week or two and keeping up with it, so check back soon!
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil" - Psalm 23
These are cherished and comforting words from Psalm 23. What is the "valley of the shadow of death?" Contextually, David is most likely picturing the Judean hills and the steep-sided ravines that were dangerous because of the ability for ambush. David most likely wrote this Psalm when running from Saul so he is also showing that in life we are often overshadowed by the immanence of death. Yet, wonderfully, David "fears no evil." This is because the Lord of Heaven "knows the way of the righteous" and protects them. This is so comforting to David that he is able to have peace in the midst of trouble. So often we look at Psalm 1 for the pattern of righteousness and miss that this lesson by David is the thrust of the Psalm, and of the whole collection of Psalms in general. Let us walk in life trusting in the protection and provision of the Almighty! Let's take a walk together in the valley...
